From Uzbekistan to Silicon Valley: My Journey in Tech

Hi, I'm Kobiljon Muhammadov — a software engineer, entrepreneur, and lifelong learner who believes that great code should solve real problems. I build scalable systems, automate workflows, and create user-centric applications that make a difference.
The Beginning
I grew up in Uzbekistan, a small Central Asian country where opportunities in tech were rare. But curiosity doesn't wait for perfect conditions. I started coding in high school — writing simple scripts, building websites, and breaking things just to learn how they worked.
In 2021, I enrolled at the American University of Central Asia (AUCA) to study Software Engineering. I graduated in 2025 with a GPA of 3.9/4.0 and a full scholarship from U.S-CAEF. During my time at AUCA, I dove deep into algorithms, system design, and machine learning — but more importantly, I learned how to think critically and build with intention.
In 2024, I spent a semester abroad at Southern Denmark University (SDU), where I explored embedded systems, IoT, and robotics. That experience opened my eyes to how software intersects with hardware, and how engineering principles apply across disciplines.
Building & Breaking Things
I've worked across the full stack — from Java backend systems at ONOI Software, to Python/Django APIs at Geek Studios, to ReactJS and Flask at Rotoy APS. Each role taught me something new:
- How to write clean, maintainable code that scales.
- How to debug complex systems and reduce resolution time.
- How to optimize database queries and improve API latency.
- How to ship features fast without sacrificing quality.
But the most transformative experience came during my DevOps internship at Universal Robots in Denmark. There, I learned how to automate infrastructure with Terraform, Docker, and Kubernetes, and how to build CI/CD pipelines that reduce deployment time by 40%. That's when I realized: great engineering isn't just about writing code — it's about building systems that last.
Starting eAdvisor
In 2025, I founded eAdvisor.tech — an intelligent platform for automated academic advising, course planning, and graduation tracking. The idea came from a problem I experienced firsthand: students struggle to navigate degree requirements, plan courses, and stay on track for graduation.
So I built a solution. Using Django, React.js, PostgreSQL, and NVIDIA RAG, I created a system that automates advising workflows and provides personalized recommendations. The result? Students get clarity. Advisors save time. Universities improve retention.
In 2025, eAdvisor was selected as one of the Top 10 startups out of 150 applicants for the Silicon Valley Immersion Program. Shortly after, we secured $60,000 in SAFE investment from a Palo Alto-based venture firm. It's been an incredible journey — and we're just getting started.
Exploring the World
I've been fortunate to travel to over 18 countries, each teaching me something new about culture, people, and perspective. Here are some of the places I've called home — even if just for a little while:
Traveling has shaped how I think about software. Every country I visit reminds me that good design is universal — intuitive interfaces, clear communication, and empathy for the user transcend borders.
What I Believe
I believe in building with purpose. Technology should solve problems, not create them. I believe in shipping fast, iterating often, and learning from failure. I believe in automation, clean code, and systems thinking.
Most importantly, I believe that anyone, from anywhere, can build something extraordinary — if they're willing to learn, adapt, and never stop questioning.
"The best way to predict the future is to build it."
What's Next?
Right now, I'm focused on scaling eAdvisor and helping more students navigate their academic journeys. I'm also exploring opportunities in AI, DevOps, and full-stack engineering — always looking for the next challenge.
If you're building something interesting, solving hard problems, or just want to chat about tech — let's connect. I'm always open to new ideas, collaborations, and conversations.
